Nepal was hit by a devastating earthquake on April 25th with unceasing aftershocks. Cardborigami has received numerous requests for our structures in Nepal.Instead, we set out to help the remote villages in Nepal by physically rebuilding in areas nearest to the epicenter such as Gorkha. The plan was to provide funding to purchase materials needed and engage the villagers in the process of rebuilding one K-12 school that is now rendered unsafe for use. So far, we have established wireless internet connections for the entire village, built two schools, provided shoes and supplies to the students, and built a new home for one family. Our plan is to implement more programs for the women and girls in these villages during 2016. Cardborigami held a fundraising event on Dec 20th 2015 at the Design Within Reach site in West Hollywood, CA and successfully raised $6,000 to this aim. However, more funds are needed to continue the development of infrastructure and training to self-sustain the locals. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to cover all such costs.
